Yorkville's Deputy Chief Investment Strategist, Raphael Aronowicz, sheds light on Yorkville's QVR (Quality, Valuation and Risk) investment methodology. Sticking to this discipline helps us to avoid many of the mistakes investors fall victim to, leading to poor returns and the destruction of capital. Too often are investors seduced into chasing returns of high-flying growth stocks, or speculating on the "flavour of the month", only to be disappointed when the hype fails to deliver. The QVR methodology was designed to ensure we don't fall victim to these temptations by focusing on the factors we know make successful investments.

A physician by profession, Oberg was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as an Progressive Conservative in 1993. He was first appointed to the Alberta Cabinet in 1997 and served numerous posts. Over the next two years, he oversaw the move of children’s services and services for persons with developmental disabilities to community-based delivery. He launched a western Canadian initiative to address Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and implemented an interprovincial strategy to share resources and develop new and better approaches for addressing FAS. In May 1999, Dr. Oberg was appointed Minister of Learning, a post he held until November 2004. He began the second language initiative in Alberta schools to give students an edge in the world marketplace and initiated the development of the daily physical activity program to improve the health of Alberta students. In 2006, Lyle Oberg was named Minister of Finance in Premier Ed Stelmach's cabinet. Oberg opened C2DNA in Edmonton, the first private DNA testing facility in Canada. He founded the lab with his brother and other investors.

Steve is the owner and principal of SJM Consulting which provides Human Resource services in the areas of job description writing, classification, organizational analysis and design, grievance resolution, facilitation and project management. He has significant experience in both the public and private sectors and has a Master's Certificate in Project Management as well as a number of human resources accreditations. Stephen is board member for Comtech Fire Credit Union where he sits as Chair of the Governance Committee as well as for the Director's Forum where he is an Executive Committee member.

He also supports a number of charities including the Kidscome 1st golf tournament. Stephen brings over 37 years of diversified experience to Yorkville, providing guidance and counsel on business development and strategic initiatives.

Jeffrey Dale is the co-founder and a corporate director for the Odawa Group Inc. The Odawa Group began operations in December 2009 developing new approaches to creating financial models for long term funding of Infrastructure projects.  The Odawa Group is currently focused on creating a new Chartered Bank in Canada that will focus on debt funding Infrastructure Projects from Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments.  Mr. Dale has worked on Infrastructure Projects with Canada Post, Royal Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa International Airport Authority and the University of Ottawa.

Mr. Dale co-founded Snowy Cloud Inc. a management consulting company in 2010 to support public and private sector clients on innovation, entrepreneurship and transition planning.  He currently works with Welch Group LLP as part of their Chairman’s View program which assists business owners in maximizing the value of their business prior to a sale or transfer.

Mr. Dale is the former President and CEO of the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI),Ottawa's lead economic development agency until March 2009. OCRI, under the leadership of Mr. Dale, solidified Ottawa as a gateway to innovation, research, entrepreneurship and investment.

Prior to his appointment at OCRI, Mr. Dale was an executive for a number of companies in Ottawa’s robust Technology sector.  His past positions included; President of KOM NETWORKS Inc., a fast growing company focused on providing innovative data management products; Vice-President, Business Development for Peleton Photonic Systems Inc, a startup for next generation optical networking equipment; and, Vice-President of Sales for SHL Systemhouse, the largest Canadian systems integration company with global operations.

From 2002 to 2006 Mr. Dale was Chairman of the Board of Centillion Industries a publically traded company on the TSX Venture Exchange (TSX.V:CID).  Mr. Dale was a founder in the creation of Centillion Industries and their IPO as a Capital Pool Corporation (CPC).

Mr. Dale is an active member of the Ottawa business community and volunteers his time for a number of community service activities. Currently, Mr. Dale serves on United Way’s Board of Directors and the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP).  He is past Chair of the board for the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, and a past board member of the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa International Airport Authority.

In 2002, Mr. Dale received the Trudeau Medal from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa.  In 2008, Mr. Dale was awarded the Businessman of the Year Award for Ottawa and in 2011 Mr. Dale was honoured as the Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of Ottawa.

Gary is best known as a visionary and a builder of top management teams. Among his many accomplishments, Gary spearheaded the creation of Alterna Bank of Canada, and the successful merger of CS CO-OP and Metro Credit Union to create the new entity Alterna Savings and Credit Union. Under his stewardship, Alterna rose to 'top of mind' recognition nationally, as an industry leader.

Gary was instrumental in achieving legislative change at both the provincial and federal levels as it
pertains to the financial services industry. He has been an active spokesperson for industry vision and regulatory change, and has appeared before House of Commons Committees and Senate Committees.

In March 2007, Gary Seveny retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alterna Bank of Canada and Alterna Savings and Credit Union, both headquartered in Ottawa with operations in west Quebec and throughout Ontario; a career that spanned 35 years. Gary remains active in business, currently a founder of the Odawa Group Inc., actively planning the creation of a new Canadian bank that will be focused on infrastructure lending. His devotion to community work remains impressive, having added additional Boards and Foundations to his roster.

Gary’s awards and industry recognitions include the Community Builder Recognition (United Way Ottawa, 2007), the Business Person of the Year – Silver Award (Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, 2002), the Co-operative Lifetime Achievement Award (Ontario Co-operative Association, 2003) and the Angel Award (Fay Bisaillon Memorial Fund, 2004).
